본 연구는 Astin(1993)의 투입-환경-산출(I-E-O) 모델에 근거하여, 대학생의 학습참여 유형을 식별/분류하고, 각 참여유형을 예측하는 요인과 참여유형에 따른 대학교육성과의 차이를 분석하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여, 한국교육종단연구2005의 8차년도 자료를 사용하여, 4년제 1～2학년 대학생 1,298명을 대상으로 잠재프로파일분석, 다중 로지스틱회귀분석, BCH 분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학교 저학년 학습참여 유형은 4개로 분류되었고, 이를 ‘소극참여형’, ‘학습중심형’, ‘교류중심형’, ‘열정참여형’으로 명명하였다. 둘째, 학습참여 유형을 예측하는 요인은 ‘성별’, ‘학년’, ‘계열’, ‘대학소재지’, ‘대학설립유형’으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학습참여 유형에 따라 대학교육성과인 ‘대학성적’, ‘학습역량’, ‘대학만족’, ‘대학몰입’, ‘대학적응’에 차이가 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 초기 학습참여 관리를 위한 대학의 정책적 시사점과 후속연구를 제언하였다.

This study aims to identify and classify student engagement types and analyze the respective predictors and the associations with higher education performance. Data from the 8th year of the Korean Educational Longitudinal Study 2005 were used to conduct latent profile, multiple logistic regression, and BCH analyses on 1,298 first and second-year (lower grades) fourth-year college students, from which the following was found. The four latent lower grade college student engagement types were; passive, learning-oriented, exchange-oriented, and passion; with the predictors for these student engagement types being: gender, university location, university establishment type, major, and grade. Finally, higher education performance differences were found to be related to college performance, learning competencies, college satisfaction, college commitment, and college adaptation. From these results, the university policy implications for students and recommendations for future studies are outlined.
