특수교육 현장에서 다양한 형식의 개별 지원은 가장 기초가 되는 교육 형식이면서 동시에 가장 성찰이 많이 필요한 영역이다. 왜냐하면 개별 지원은 학생 한 명 한 명의 고유성에 기반한 교육 활동이면서 동시에 해당 학생의 사회적 삶의 확장에 실제적으로 기여할 수 있어야 하기 때문이다. 이 연구는 이러한 입장에서 장애학적 특수교육방법론을 고민해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 자연선택이론과 진화된 마음 역량을 살펴보았는데, 이를 통해 인간은 서로 다름으로 인해 모두가 생존할 수 있었고 이 과정에서 다름을 수용하는 역량이 진화되어 왔음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 특수교육 현장에서 개별 지원을 실천할 때에도 이러한 관점이 중요하게 다루어져야 할 것이며 이를 위해서는 무엇보다 특수교육방법론이 추상에서 구체로 전환될 필요가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 다시 말해 학생들의 개개인성이 존중받는 가운데 다양한 사회적 환경과의 풍요로운 접촉이 가능할 수 있도록 장애학생 개별 지원이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

In the field of special education, individual support in various forms is the most basic form of education and also require the most reflection as it offers educational activities based on the uniqueness of an individual student. At the same time, these supports should make real contributions to the expansion of his or her social life. This study was conceived to contemplate special education methodology based on disability studies. The study first examined the theory of natural selection and the capabilities of the evolved mind, and found that human beings were all able to survive due to their differences and their evolving capabilities by accepting differences. These findings should become foundational in the practice of individual support in the field of special education and promote a shift from abstract to specific methodology. In other words, individual support should be provided to students with disabilities so that they can be respected for their individuality and have rich contact with diverse social environments.
